Ohakune baths committee prepares for summer swimming

A meeting of the Ohakune Swimming Baths Committee was held on Monday 3 October and it was decided at the meeting to proceed immediately with the completion of the heating system which has not been functional for the last five years. This work has now been done. The committee has also commenced making arrangements for the water blasting of the main baths and it is hoped that the painting of both pools will be completed before the middle of November. Some freshening up of the dressing sheds is also contemplated and possibly the custodian's office will be re-located next to the main gate. The fenced area will be reduced to make for easier supervision by having the whole area visible from the office. The committee also decided that there will be an admission fee of 50 cents per

person, child or adult, this year. Adults attending solely as guardians or youngsters not swimming themselves will be admitted free. There will not be an issue of family tickets and the committee will reserve the right of admission. It is hoped that fund raising will be recommenced in December with our usual Christmas Ham and Cake raffles and with Quick Fire Raffles on 17 December in the main shopping area. The committee also hope to have special Christmas Raffle Tickets available at $20each with five cars as prizes plus many more valuable articles ... more about these Iater.
