Ohakune Primary School

"This year's skiing programme for the school couldn't compare with the last two seasons," said Ohakune Primary School principal, Bill Taylor last week. The children only skied once this year and that was in the second term well before the August holidays. About 65-70 children from Forms 1 and 2 opted for the skiing programme and were expecting to get a lot more skiing done ... the Wanganui Education Board

has given approval for up to six visits to the Turoa Skifield during the season. "The programme caters for children from Forms 1 and 2 who want to learn to ski but when we looked at the beginner's facilities and the snow cover on the nursery slopes this year we decided it would be of no advantage to the children to send them up", said Mr Taylor.
