Red Cross Committee appointed

The fourth annual general meeting of the Waimarino branch of the New Zealand Red Cross Society was held in Ohakune last month. The guest speaker on this occasion was Mr L.Neilson who is assistant secretary in charge of finance at the Red Cross Society's national headquarters in Wellington. The New Zealand Red Cross Society's 1982-83 budget for various projects totalled $306,500 which was allocated as follows: New Zealand Projects Family Support Service $25,000, Blood Donor Recruitment $3,000, Humanitarian Law $10,000, NZ Emergency Preparedness: New Vehicles $25,000, Teams $30,000. Overseas Projects Pacific Projects $60,000' Health Service Awards $3,500, Disaster Relief $150,000. The role of the Red Cross in civil defence was discussed and it was decided to invite Mr Bully Hays, local Civil Defence organisor, to the next committee meeting. Officers appointed for the coming year": Patron Mr G. Chan; Chairman Mr N. Buck; Secretary Mrs S. Buck; Treasurer Mrs S. Kumeroa; Committee Rev. R. Peck, Mrs J. Tapp, Mrs J. Warbrick.
