Raetihi Police House

Raetihi's second police house is to be shifted to Ohakune. This decision has been made by the Minister of Police. Mr Couch, and conveyed to Raetihi's mayor Garrick Workman in a letter last week. Despite receiving a deputation from the Raetihi Borough Council and business community last month the Minister of Police has ruled that the police house in Raetihi be uplifted and relocated in Ohakune to accommodate a sergeant who will be appointed next year. A disappointed Mr Workman said that the Minister's decision clearly indicated that Raetihi will never become a constable station again.
