BMX Club

Waimarino BMX club held their first meeting on the club track at Raetihi showgrounds on Sunday 16 October. Fourteen riders competed in four different age groups. The only girl rider, Nina Haitana took second place overall in her age group — the 7 to 8 year olds. Club spokesman, D'Arcy Newson said that the

afternoon was a load of fun. "But theres room for lots more children" he said. A BMX bike, some old clothes including a long sleeved shirt or pullover and 50 cents entry fee which goes into nominal prize money is all that children need to join in. The club has helmets available for loan. Farents are welcome to watch and help where possible as track marshalls. It was discovered that one

of the corners was a bit too tight. This will be rectified in short time by parents with shovels and spades at the next meeting scheduled for lpm Sunday 30 October. Results: 7-8 yrs. 1st Che Wilson, 2nd Nina Haitana. 9-10 Ist Caleb Dempsey, 2nd Kyle 1 1-12 yrs lstShane Fhillips,2nd Tony Fhillips. Also-rans were; Hamish Michael Hammond, Hayden Brent Newson, Bernard Fhillips and Shane Collett.
