RUAPEHU COLLEGE

Eleven pupils from Ruapehu College were selected to compete in the InterSecondary Schools' Cross Country Championships in Mosstown, Wanganui, earlier this month. On a testing 3000m course the junior girls did credit to the Waimarino with three finishing in the first ten. Trudy Taura ran a welltimed race to finish second. Rira Proebestel and Sharon Binzegger were placed fifth and seventh respectively with Kylie Hope finishing twentyseventh. Glen Frattley who had recently arrived from Onslow College in Johnsonville, ran a creditable thirteenth in the Junior Boys race, well ahead

of all other Waimarino runners in his class. It is unfortunate they were unable to make up the number required for the team competition as they would have performed well. Earlier this month seven pupils of Ruapehu College with two teachers travelled to Palmerston North. They made the trip so that they could attend an open day at the Manawatu Folytechnic. Pupils were invited to look around and ask questions about courses available. Sixth and seventh formers were able to get a first-hand impression of what life on campus was like.
