Steak House Empty
The building known as Village Steakhouse at Ohakune Junction is now empty, literally, following moves by the new owners to take possession upon completion of their purchase. Sold at mortgagee auction in late August, the previous occupants took practically every fixture from the building before they left the premises on 6 October. The new owners of the building, a local group, are currently working on plans to reinstate such Jhings as taps, sink benches, cupboard doors, stair rails, carpet, lino, plumbing, wiring. electrical equipment and even a toilet cistern. "There is a great deal of interest in the lease," said a spokesman for the new owners. "It's a sound, attractive building on a good site. We are particularly keen to have a tenant who is prepared to work full time to make it an all-year-round business." "We've made the inves^^^ ment as a long-term, full time statement of our faith in Ohakune's future" he said. As well as the restaurant premises, the building has a two bedroomed flat upstairs and a three bedroomed house is also on the property.
