Fencer cuts telephone service

A farm worker's fencing job caused more than 70 residents to lose their telephone service on .Monday of last week. Ohakune Post Office overseer, Mr Feter Eaglen, said service in the Ruatiti and Horopito areas was disrupted for about four hours.

A cable was accidentally cut while a farm worker in Valley Road was digging a hole, he said. Mr Eaglen said people should contact the Fost Office before attempting any kind of excavation work. The Fost Office can supply plans showing where telephone cables are, and if necessary, will send their staff out to check the location of the proposed work.
