Pony Club season starts
^Jhe Ohakune branch of ^•Waimarino Fony Club held their first rally of the 1 983-84 season on Saturday 1 October. Sixteen people attended, including members and instructors. Although the weather was too wet for riding, the time wasn't wasted. A theory session was held at the home of the chief instructor Mrs Evelyn Cooper. There was some revision of last year's work, and various aspects of road safety and courtesy were discussed. Some members were concerned about the inconsiderate actions of some drivers ... particularly those who sound their horns or fail to slow down and pull • when passing riders. se actions can frighten a horse and it can be difficult
for a young or inexperienced rider to stay in control. The next rally will be held on 1 5 October at Rangataua Domain, weather permitting. Anyone interested is welcome. to come along. Upcoming activites include, over Labour Weekend, a 1-day event at Fordell on Saturday 22 October and the Taumarunui District Gymkhana at Manunui on Monday 24 October. On Saturday 29 October there is a novice O.D.E. at Ongarue and the date'for everyone to remember and keep free is Saturday 5 November, when the Ohakune branch is holding an 'Open Day' at Rangataua Domain. Everybody is welcome and if even the least bit interested should come along and bring the family.
