Womens Division Federated Farmers

The September meeting of the Ohakune Branch of the Women's Division of Federated Farmers was held at the home of Mrs Rae Littlewood in Raetihi on 2 September. The guest on this occasion was Mr K. Holmes who spoke to members about a trip he recently made to Thailand to visit, in their homes, two Thai children who he sponsors under the World Vision scheme. Mr Holmes told of the conditions under which these families live and his talk was of particular interest to members in view of the fact that a group within the Ohakune Branch of W.D.F.F. sponsored.

first an Indian and now a Fakistani child under the Save the Children Sponsorship scheme. OnTuesday, 13 September a mornirig function arranged by the W.D.F.F. and held in the Waimarino Club rooms, Raetihi, was attended by approximately forty people, most of whom were members of the local Flunket Society - their children came along too. Following morning tea the gathering was entertained with two amusing recitations given by Mrs Margaret Horne of Ohakune. After this Mrs Jones, Fresident of the Ohakune Branch of W.D.F.F. presented Mrs MacLean,

the Flunket Society Fresident, with a cheque to cover the cost of two baby car seats for hire by the Flunket Society to parents of very young children. Mrs Jones apologised for the fact that, as the car seats were not available in time for the meeting, the W.D.F.F. had been unable

to purchase them. However, it is expected that they will be available shortly. Mrs MacLean, on behalf of the Flunket Society, thanked Mrs Jones and.

members of the W.D.F.F. assuring them that their gift was much appreciated and would be put to good use in the future. Winners of the two raffles held were Mrs Cornwall and Mrs McCarthy respectively.
