Waiting for daylight

This transporter — en route betwpen Auckland and Motonui in Taranaki — had to break its journey in Raetihi before continuing down the Parapara Road in daylight. It was carrving a large steel structure to the synthetic fuels plant in Motonui in Taranaki and had made the trip down from A uckland during daylight but onlv got asfar as Raetihi before dark. Despite being preceded bv a 'Wide Load' notice-carrying vehicle it was too dangerous to negotiate the Parapara Road at night. The drfvers of the two vehicles spent the night in Ohakune andleft Raetihi to continue their journey south early ne.xt morning.
