New look clubhouse

Not quite finished yet, the 'new look' Ohakune bowling Clubhouse is seen with its recent extension (left of, picture) and new roof as it appeared last week. The clubhouse, believed to have once been part of a school, was badly burnt when an arsonist set fire to the building earlier this year causing $15,000 damage. To keep the cost of repairs and extensions down to a minimum, Dick Condon, Ohakune Bowling Club member and local building contractor, arrang-

ed for the work to be done partly by voluntary labour from other members in collaboration with his own staff who provided the 'know-how' and expertise on a nominal charge-out basis for labour and materials. The 9m x extension now acco^^ modates a larger and more comfortable bar/lounge area and an inside toilet. A Novalite" roof has also been added to the front of the building as part of the renovation work.
