Raetihi Squash News

Ladies interclub team matches are proving very popular. The Waimarino team recently won against Taumarunui, with wins to C. Hawira, K. Rihia and M. McLean and a loss to K. Siddells in a five setter. The ladies 'composite' team won 3-2 against Taihape with loses to L. Todd and N. Pikari and wins to J. Crowley, A. Irwin and K. Ritchfield. Over the weekend of 24-25-26th June, 14 players from the Waimarino Squash Club played in two different tournaments. Seven went to the Taihape tournament and another seven placed in the Okato tournament. A. Irwin was the only player to bring home a prize from Okato, being runner-up in the ladies D grade — a good effort from Aroha. At the Taihape tournament, Christine Hawira won the F grade championship, Lyn Henare won the special plate, Warwick Goile won the special plate in division two (and broke his racket). Tige Todd got the consolation plate in E grade.
