RAETIHI PRIMARY SCHOOL
Father Kearney, a Redemptorist Catholic priest spoke to the children during assembly on June 7th. He returned with Father Vella the next morning to promote further the forthcoming Catholic Mission. ★ ★ ★ On June 7th a ski evenjng for Form 1 and 2 parents and children was held to begin 1 983's school skiing programme. John Ball, Turoa Ski School Director was- a guest speaker, and shared his ideas and experiences with us. Two excellent ski films were shown and enjoyed by the 30 adults and 60 children who attended. ★ ★ ★ Over Queen's Birthday •ekend the school was )ken into. The staff room was entered and some items of equipment stolen from classrooms. Two juvenile offenders have been apprehended by the Raetihi police. ★ ★ ★ Mid-year surveys have heen started and reports will be sent home on the 24th' June. This will be followed by parent interviews on Tuesday 5th July 3.00 — 5.30pm and 6.00 — 9.00pm. ★ ★ ★ June 23rd will see a concentrated effort in fundraising for Telethon. At 1 .30pm on that Thursday afternoon ^^Mini-Telethon involving ^Bldren and staff will be held. We hope that the cornmunity vvill join us in some painless and entertaining fundraising. ■ Raffles, cake stall and some colourful entertainment will provide an afternoon not to be missed. ★ ★ ★ Soccer results Raetihi fielded an Under 12 in the Taumarunui Tournarnent on Monday 6th June. They played Turangi (losi: 3-2), Taumarunui (lost 2-0), Ohakune (won 13-0). Four boys were picked in the Under 12 King Country Representative Team — Duanne O'Brien, Jason Herewini, Jeremy McDonnell and Bruce Francis.
