Doctor for skifield
Once again, in 1983, Turoa's nine-man ski patrol will be complemented by the services of a full-time doctor. Ski patrol leader, Peter Sutton, said Turoa was the first skifield in New Zealand to provide such a service. "The doctor is an experienced skier and will accompany the patrol on all search and rescife missions," he said. In an effort to provide the best possible service, Turoa Skifields will, at no expense to injured skiers, provide first aid on the mountain and transport them to the nearest available hospital.
