AUSTRALIAN CRICKETER IN AUCKLAND.
The match Auckland v. Australians was begun in Auckland last Friday aFternoon. The visitors went first to th© wickets an 1 the principal scores were Trott 41, Gicgorv 26, Eady 38, Graham 26 and Trnmble 15, the innings closing for 162 runs. R. Neill took six wickets for 7i , Stemson 2 for 13, Kallender 1 for 28 and D. Hay l for 23 Auckland’s first innings brought 140 runs ;,J Mills 20. Kallender 17, G Mills 16. D Hay 15, Marshall 1-i, not out, Wynyard 12. and Niell 11 were the Rouble figure s< o ‘ers. McKiblin secured 4 wickets for 43, Jones 2 for 20, Trnmble 6 lor 37 and Trott 3 The AusrtaHans in their second innings totalled 233 ; —Hill 51, Kelly 43, Darling and Trumble 32 each, and Trott 24 beingchief scorers. Stemson took 5 wickets for 49, Labatt 3 for 27, D. Play 1 for 47, and Neill 1 for 67. Auckland had only three hours to make (he 256 runs required and found the lask too difficult. When time was called they had to their credit 111 runs for 11 wickets. The game was drawn greatly in favour of the Australians, I. Mills 28, D. Hay 19, Ohlson 18, and Ball 11 not out were” the chief scorers. Jones took 5 wickets for 36 run=. The takings at the gate amounted to about £440, viz. £BO, firs! day, £l7O second day, and 190 third. Of this amount half goes to the Australians, and the balance to the local Association, who make a net profit on the match of about £l3O. The wicket was in first-clas3 condition during the whole three days, the visitors describing it as one of the best thejr have played on since they left Australia.
