TE KOPURU.
A meeting of the School Committee was held in Library last week when, in the absence of the Chairman, Mr McLeod occupied the chair. There were present also Messrs Vincent, Jos. Molloy and Broekliss. Mr McLeod reported that he had enquired into the matter of alleged overpunishment of a child at Bedhill school, and was satisfied that there was nothing to blame the master for in the matter. The Board of Education forwarded cheque for £3 ss, being cost of chimney at Tatarariki school. Bedhill and Tatarariki schools were granted permission to close for Christmas holidays on Friday, December, 14th. The Kopuru school closes one week later. The School treat Committee met on the same evening Messrs Whitaker, Broekliss, McDermott, Geo. Foreman, Joseph Molloy, McLeod, Vincent and Geo. French all being present. It was found that there were a good many- objections to the treat taking Ike form of a trip by steamer so it was decided to ask Mr Whitaker to take a poll of the parents as to whether it should be a steamer trip or a picnic in the paddock as before ; the poll resulted in 39 voting for the latter and 7 for the former.
