WRECKED ON THE ANTIPODES ISLANDS.

The Government steamer Hinemoa has just returned from her trip round the islands to the South of this Colony, and has brought with her eleven survivors from the barque Spirit of the Dawn, which was wrecked ou the Antipodes Islands on 4th September last. The men had been on the Island for 80 days and were in a desperate condition ; the whole of the time they had been living on raw flesh of mutton, birds, penguins, eggs, roots and plants. Their vessel was wrecked near the island which they reached in a boat, and altnough they were eighty days there they saw no g oat« or sheep which are plentiful there, aud neither did they discover the depot of provisions which our Government keep replenished on purpose for any castaways on the island." With the exception of one lad the men are now ih good health, Five men (including the captain) were lost at the time of the wreck
