The Wairoa Bell, AND Hobson County Gazette. FRIDAY, JUNE 30th.
Messrs Palmer, Thompson, and Houston, the three North Auckland members have arranged to wait upon the Premier in order to lay before him the advisability of getting a good metalled road formed from Auckland as far as Mongonui, A road through the North is undoubtedly a worthy object and we wish our members every success. But we would like to remind those gentlemen that it so happens that each of their interests lie mostly on the East Coast and it will be very necessary for them, to avoid the suspicion of selfishness, to act veiy conscientiously in laying out the course of the road, and even to lean towards those on this side of the island. By all means have a road from Auckland to Mongonui, but do not keep the west without roads until such is completed, Please remember the Hobsou County which with its gum, timber, fertile spots, and noble river is of as much importance to the North as any other part,
