ARATAPU GYMNASIUM.
A meeting of the management Committee of the Aratapu Gymnasium was held on Wednesday evening- last to consider affairs in connection with that Society. It was found that it would be necessary to procure more gear, as the scanty supply of last year was greatly damaged, and also that it would be advisable to secure a larger room than the present meeting place. It was reported that the Rotunda Rink could be procured for one night a week on payment of half-a-crown, and the Committee decided to obtain same for their meetings, fora quarter at least It was also decided to procure a further supply of dumbbells and clubs (there being about £2 Ss in hand), and as scon as funds permit, a bar and a mattress. The interest taken in this Society has of late, been somewhat of a flagging nature, probably owing to the small room and insufficient supply of gear, but when the rink is obtained it is hoped that the members will show more energy and spirit in it than they have hitherto done. On being asked by the People’s Popular Concert Company it was agreed to assist them in their performance on Friday evening next.
