The Home Rule BillLord Salisbury addressing a meeting of the Primrose League said that the House of Commons would not permit the employment of soldiers to enforce authority in Ireland. The Ho use of Lords would continue to reject the Bill if it passed the Commont, for they were persuaded that Home Rule in Ireland would certainly wreck the authority of Great Britain. And if the House of Lords rejected the Bill it would he idle to send it back without an appeal to the country. He ridicu'ed the extraordinary hotchpotch the Bill proposed to make of the House of Commons. All the cultured, wealthy and enterprising among the Roman Catholices of Ireland he contended joined with Protestants in the protest against Horne Rule. Autonomy would remove the keystone of the constitution.
