The elections of School Committees take place on Monday evening next at the time and places notified. At Aratapu the names of Messrs Cork-ill, T. Nield, W. Bassett, S. Wilson, G. Mills and W. F. Smith are posted as having been already nominated* The Mascotte Dramatic Club were favoured with a bumper house on Saturday night at Aratapu and the cash taken at the door amounted to neady £ll. The performance was an excellent one and gave general satisfaction- The Joan of Arc tableaux were specially beaut'fnl and inspiring being themselves worth the cost of admission. In the scene from La Mascotte, M iss Hossack and Miss E. Rhodes each received and deserved a shower of bouquets. The duett ‘Ba ! Ba !’ again took on immensely. Wc might particularise more but it was evident t,hac all worked well and harmoniously together and credit is due to each member of the. Club for their excellent entertainment. A. meeting of the Northern Wairoa Rugby Union was’beld at. Aratapu on Wednesday evening, Air G. Aleredith, vicepresident in the chair. The Kopuru, Aratapu and Maropiu Clues were represented by last season’s delegates and several other active footballers were present. The object of the meeting was to clear up last season’s affairs and place matters in readiness for the Annual meeting which is to he held on Wednesday next. From the Secretary’s report wc judge that the Union will be able to start the present season with a clean balance sheet, Alessrs Meredith and Stallworthy were appointed au itors and the balance sheet will be placed before the Au— » nual m eting on Wednesday next. It was £ decided to advertise the Annual meeting in (lie Wairoa Bell. A desultory conversation took place on football matters in general but all action was deferred till the annual meeting when Clubs will be represented by their newly elected delegates. Before the old delegates parted Mr E. Bassett moved a hearty vote of thanks to the Secretary, Air C. H. Alatthews, for his services during the past season and tlii@ was carried unanimously.
