CRICKET.

The cricket matches fixed, for tomorrow afternoon are attracting considerable attention, The Tatararibi and Aratapu Clubs have both got second elevens and fob the first time in this district the second elevens are to meet. It has hitherto been one of the drawbacks of cricket that all players were not able to take part in the matches and many were somewhat disheartened thereat. Tomorrow opens a new era and the younger players’ enthusiasm has risen accordingly. The Tatarariki and Aratapu second elevens play to-morrow in Mr Webb’s paddock where a good pitch has been prepared by paring a level wicket on which to place the matting. The Aratapu first eleven meet the Mangawhare C, C. on the latter’s ground tomorrow afternoon and a close game is looked for. Mangawhare is considered strong in batting but not so in bowling. The teams are as follows ; Tatarariki Second.—Messrs Jas. Molloy, kittle. H. Lowrie, Tidmarsh, J. Mcllroy, E. Bassett, F. Walker. S. Stewart, P. Bartley, W'. Whitaker, E. Phelan. Emergencies, J. Johnston, J. Molloy and Heatley. Aratapu Second, —Messrs Gerring, A. Morgan, A. Webb, C. Nield, J. Brown, G. Elliott, J. F. Smith, S. Edmonds, A. Jones, T. Keane and H. Corkill. Aratapu First.— Messrs Marcroft. J Elliott, French, Stallworthy, Butland, Slater, T. Nield, T. Walker, G. Mold, A. Smith and Bleakley. The Mangawhare team will probably be chosen from, —Messrs Mansill, Brown, Ford, Beale, Dargaville, Harding (2), Blight, F. Matthews, Marriner, Hor-pool and McLean Players in both matches are requested to be in attendance by two o’clock.
