CRICKET.
The first match of the season ill this district was played last Saturday afternoon on the Aratapu ground Tatarariki and Aratapu were the contestants and a pleasant game resulted. Owing to a breakdown the preparation ot the pitch had not been completed, and although the matting was used the wicket was only a poor one. Aratapu went first to the wickets but failed to make a stand ; T. Nield, being the only batsman to reach the doubles. T Elliott’s bowling was very effective as may be seen by a glance at the analysis. Tatarariki in their batting were again greatly assisted by T. Elliott who made a long Btand for 30 runs. T. Walker bowled steadily and secured two wickets for 5 runs. Tho match was won by Tatarariki by IS runs on the first innings. Aratapu c. c. Ist Innings 2nd Innings. T. Nield b. A cricket match, Married v. Single, was played on Saturday, Not. 26t.h. at Port Albert Owing to B little friction amongst former members of the Club —who are dissatisfied with the otficers recently elected, although when present at the meeting they lacked the manliness to speak their mind, but indulged in all the talking afterwards there were only ten men aside ; nevertheless, it proved a pleasant game and is to be played out on Saturday, December 10th. At present the Benedicts are to the front, they having had their two innings. In their first innings the latter totalled 45 runs ; sooond innings 59. C. Witherford and R. Walker with 6 runs each, were the top scorer* for the Married in the first innings, ■while in their second innings, E. Piper played a good stonewall game for 19 runs ; R, Walkei with 16 runs was the only other to reach double figures. For the Single, Percy Gubb and F.
