ARATAPU MINSTRELS.
An entertainment of a varied character was given in the Aratapu hall last Saturday evening by the Aratapu Minstrels, in aid of the United Wairoa Band. The attendance was exceptionally large, the hall being crowded, and the cash taken at the door annul'■ted ;■■■ nearly Til, in addition to the tickets Bn-vj, ■us!y sold. The jokes of the first part were neither very' fresh nor startling but Mr Mackininni’s jockey hornpipe was taking and brought him an encore. The same gentleman was also good in the farce and other by play. Mr Harrison was in very good voice and received an encore by bis rendering of the ‘ Arab steed.’ Mr Clark’s performances on the wire rope and trapeze were very meritorious and quite equal to anything we have previously seen in this district His get up and his skill in balancing would entitle him to a prominent place in any travelling stow. The entertainment was followed by a dance which was kept up till midnight. The whole affair was very successful except that there was too much liquor iu the back rooms.
