The Annual meeting of subscribers to the Library was held here on Saturday night last. After paying all expenses and buying the Mount Eden Library the balance sheet shows a handsome surplus. The old Committee were re- elected with Mr E. A . Cook in place of Mr H. H. Taylor who has left the district. We had a sensational marriage in high life here on Tuesday last. It did not end as marriages in high life generally do but more like a tinker’s wedding, The bridegroom found it necessary to *' inflict a castigation ” on the fighting son of the family who wanted a man with a pedigree for a brother-in-law.
