The Wairoa Bell. AND Hobson County Gazette. FRIDAY, JULY 22nd.
If the Senior member for Auckland City does not soon learn that he is not bom to
command but rather to follow the sooner he becomes an ex member the better. His action as a member of the deputation that waited upon the Premier in reference to the Stratford route was very undignified and well deserved the rebuke of Mr Houston when he said that “if he had thought the thing was going to take this turn, he would not have come to the meeting. They were simply bearing out the disgraceful stigma upon Auckland members that they could not agree upon any one point for Auckland’s good. He considered their disagreement as a slight to the Premier, and sincerely regretted that in a case of this kind they could not sink their little differences and be unanimous. He was sorry to see the attitude taken by Mr Shera, and was sorry that he was himself a member of the deputation ”
