BAND OF HOPE ANNIVERSARY.
The Anniversary meeting of the Aratapu Band of Hope was held in the Aratapu Hall on Thesday last. There was a good attendance of children and adults. Songs were given by Mrs Marcroft, Miss Lowrie, Miss Houlihan, and Mr Jamieson ; recitations by Miss Scott and Mr Elliott : short speeches by Mr Sheffield and Mr Stsillwerthy ; an instrumental piece by Miss Francis. The Secretary’s report by Mr ’French, stated that 4S meetings had been held and 40 pledges taken. The Treasurer’s report showed a cash balance of riS 6s After tire ordinary meeting- a children s social was held and all seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves till the time to °-o home arrived Several lady friends very JrindTv and generously interested themselves for the pleasure of the children, and, quite independent of the Committee, provided an abundance of cake and fruit with a cup of tea so there was enourih for all and to spare. Mr and Mrs Kitckmri came across from Mititai at the request of the Committee to superintend the social. The complete success of the whole proceedings must have gladdened tne hearts of all who assisted towards that end.
