MENTAL HOSPITAL AT STOKE PROTEST TO MINISTER. WELLINGTON, March 17. -A deputation from Nelson waited on the Hon. J. A. Young (Minister of Public Health) to-day and protested against the establishment of a mental institution at Stoke. Tho Minister replied that the three new villas being erected were on a property that had been purchased by the Government specially for the purpose of developing a new scheme. None of the buildings would be unsightly, and exactly the same policy was being pursued elsewhere. Nelson had had a mental institution for years and no protest had been made. There was no intention to make Nelson a dumping groand for inmates from other. institutions.—(P.A.)
