LOCAL ELECTIONS.
VACANCY ON POWER BOARD. In connection, with the election of Masterton Borough representatives on the Wairarapa Hospital Board and Wairarapa Power Board, which takes place simultaneously with the mayoral flection on April 27, it was learned yesterday that Messrs J. C. Ewington and F. G. Eton, the sitting members, intend offering themselves for re-election. Both of these gentlemen have occupied seats on the board for the past 27 years, being elected in 1900 to the Wairarapa Committee which was then under the jurisdiction of the Wellington Hospital Board. Mrs. W. H. Jackson, the other Boi odgh representative on the board, informed an •'Ago” representative yesterday that she hoped to again offer her services, but her decision would be contingent upon her health which has been indifferent for some months past Regarding the Power Board representatives, it is understood that Mr. R. J. King will again be a candidate, but Mr. T. Jordan has definitely decided to retire. Mr. Jordan, was only elected a few months ago to succeed Mr. J. C. Cooper and stated at the time of accepting office that he did so merely to fill the vacancy until the next election.
Mr. T. Moss (Eketahuna) and Mr. T. R. Barrer (Masterton), the district representatives on the Wellington Harbour Board, have both expressed their intention of re-offering their services.
