EXPLOSION OF TAR.

STREET WORKERS INJURED.

GISBORNE, March 16. About five o ’clock this evening, a tank of tar, with which a gang of men were engaged in repairs to the streets in Tolaga Bay, exploded and four men were injured, two being removed to the Tolaga Bay Hospital. One man, Thos. Poynter, was badly burned on the hands, head, shoulders and chest. William Prince was burned op the hands and face.. The other two sustained minor injuries. Neither man in hospital is in a serious condition.— V P.A.).
