COUNTY AFFAIRS.

MEETING OF MAURICEVILLE COUNCIL. DAGG’S ROAD METALLING. The monthly meeting of the Mauriceville County Council was held on Saturday. The chairman (Councillor R. Judd) presided. Leave of absence was granted to Councillor V. K. Lemberg.

The treasurer reported a credit bal ance of £1786 0s 7d. Receipts for tho month totalled £1227 13s lid and payments £406 (is 7d.

Accounts totalling £724 18s lOd were passed for payment. Dagg’s Road metalling, contract was sealed.

The elerk was directed to communicate with the Wairarapa Charitable Aid Board with regard to a grant of assistance for a family in necessitous circumstances.

A letter from the Mauriceville Hall Committee, requesting the council to assist in filling in drain was considered and the request granted. A communication was received from the Masterton County Council requesting a grant towards opening up a gravel pit on Wairere Road. The clerk was authorised to reply that the council would make a grant on certain conditions. Tho clerk was directed to write to the Masterton County Council with reference to an arrangement to exchange small portions of road on tho counties’ boundaries near Dorset’s Bridge. The chairman and elerk were deputed to attend a meeting of delegates regarding joint county by-laws and seal the by-laws.
