SHADY FINANCE.

SENSATIONAL EXPOSURE IN PARIS.

TRASH FOR GOOD SECURITIES.

(Received Monday, 7.30 p.m.). PARIS, March 13.

Sensational revelations are promised in connection with the arrest of one Rochette, who is alleged to be the leader of a .group of shady financiers, owning a number of small financial papers which published fictitious quotations, resulting in upwards of three thousand investors parting with State securities valued at forty million francs, in exchange for worthless shares.—(A. and N.Z.).

ROCHETTE’S “GENIUS.”

WAITER TURNED FINANCIER.

(Received Monday, 7.30 p.m.)

PARIS, March 14.

Rochette, who began his career as a waiter, developed a genius for finance, his frauds recalling those he engineered with such astonishing success fifteen years ago. Two men associated with him, Thorel and Mexando, were also arrested. They were acting as editors of financial papers, which boosted shares in which Rochette was interested. When readers showed an interest in them and wrote asking for information, Rochette’s canvassers called at their houses.—(Ax and N.Z.).
