THE MARKETS.
ALFREDTON SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: At the Alfredton sale held on Friday, March 11, a heavy yarding of sheep was submitted to a .good-attendance of the public. Buyers were present ftom the Manawatu and Hawke’s Bay districts. Our entry consisted of over 4000 ewes and lambs. Last month’s ewe fair and the yarding on Friday show that Manawatu buyers are in favour of the district sheep, as the bulk of our yarding again, has gone to the Manawatu. Prices, maintained on par, if slightly better, with outside markets. We were successful in disposing of practically the whole of our yarding with prices as under: 2-th ewes (fair), 17/6 to 19/9; 4 and 5-year ewes (fair), 'l4/6 to 17/6; wethers, 17/6 to 19/; medium lambs, 10/ to 12/3; cull lambs, 5/ to 8/6; b.f. lambs (fair), 11/ to 14/6; m.a. S.D. rams, to 5 gns. LANGDALE SALE. Dalgety anti Co., Ltd., report on the Langdale sale as follows: A good yarding of sheep was submitted to a attendance of farmers. The quality and condition of the offering was excellent, but with the exception of wethers and a fe.w lines of good ewes which tiet with fair competition, the bulk of the yarding realised poor prices: Following is the range of prices realised: Account Andrew Brothers, 270 4-year ewes, 20/; account same vendors, 264 2-th wethers, 19/; account J. Douglas, 41 Romney ewes at 25/; account T Cripps, 120 woolly lambs, 15/ and 47 2-th wethers, 20/8; account J. A. Caad, 101 f.m. ewes, 11/; 2-th wethers, 19/3 and b.f. lambs, 15/. Other sales were effected as follows: Shorn lambs, 10/6 to 11/9; S.D. rani, 3 gns.,'aged Romney rams, 10/; small 2-th wethers, 15/.
