CARTERTON SALE. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report: We offered a fair yarding of sheep and cattle to a small attendance yesterday. The sale was very dead and all classes of stock met with a very poor demand. Following are our prices: b.f. 2-th wethers, 17/; cull ewes, 3/ to 6/; 4 and 5-year ewes, 8/ to 12/6; w.f. lambs, 9/2 to 10/6; small do, 5/ to 7/; b.f. lambs, 7/ to 9/2; S.D. rams, 21 gns to 34 gns; 24-year steers, £3 15/; forward cows, £3 5/ to £3 10/; store cows, 30/ to £2 5/.
The Wairarapa Fanners’ Co-opera-tive Association Ltd., Stock Department, report as follows: A good entry of sheep and cattle and a small entry of pigs came forward. We disposed of the whole yarding under the hammer at prices on a par with recent sales. The following list of prices will indicate values: 17 4-th (medium) ewes, 17/; 147 6-th ewes, 18/3; 39 m.a. ewes, 18/; 50 s.ra. ewes, 9/7; 78 f.m. ewes, 7/; 27 do., 7/6; 54 do., 6/; 15 2-th (small) wethers, 15/5; 8 b.f. lambs, 15/4; 139 rdo., 13/9; 32 small do, 10/4; 33 do., 10/1; 8 cull do., 5/3; 1 S.D. ram, 31 gns. Cattle: 4 fat maiden heifers, £5 1/; 2 fat cows, £3; 2 store cows, £2 6/; 1 do, £2 11/; 1 cow and calf, 32/; 1 heifer, £3 10/; 1 'do, £2 11/; 3 do, 32/; 2 slips, 16/; weaners, 6/, 8/, 10/ to 12/. The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., report: We yarded approximately 700 sheep to a fair attendance of buyers. Competition for all lines submitted was lifeless, and values were down from 2/ to 3/ per head on the previous week on all lines of aged ewes. The following were our prices: Small 2-th ewes, 15/, 17/, 18/1, 18/4 to 19/; 5-year ewes, 12/0, 13/6, 14/, 15/ to 15/10; cull ewes, 4/6 to 5/1; m.s lambs (medium), 13/; 4-th Southdown Tams, 4| gns; f.m.
