W.F.C.A.
MANNEQUIN DISPLAY.
The Autumn Display in the W.F.C.A. Showroom yesterday was a decided success. “Henriette,” New Zealand’s premier mannequin, as UHual, showed off each garment to perfection. The lovely garments displayed were not more admired than the artistic charm and grace of their wearer. Among the beautiful collection of gowns worn was a creation in ddplLnium blue with an overdress of net Marmingly studded witty velvet flowers; a shawl and silver shoes completed the opening toilette. Then came a sweetly pretty afternoon frock of fuchsia taffeta with the new waist line, a girlish frock in salmon pink georgette with tight fitting bodice of floral chenille. An exquisite coat of navy reppe with gold embroidery was also the centre of much interest?
Of all things worn the golfing ensemble was exceedingly smart, consisting of a tweed walking skirt with rubber coat of red; the spattets worn being fashion’s latest decree. Another garment of interest was a walking suit with tweed skirt and velvet coat; this in the new wine shade with hat to tone was decidedly “chic.” For the bridge party came a delightful blue georgette gown, and with this a glorious fox wag worn. Another smart effect was a heather mixture wool costume w’ith double-breasted short coat, a style which will be most popular this season. A delightful jumper suit in mauve w r ith smart striped pleated skirt made a very fine showing. An elegant toilette w r a» a matron *s black crepe-de-chine dinner frock w’ith Spanish lace overskirt. Another smart effect was a black troche satin coat and with it was worn a skunk necklet and chic black hat. A charming frock of bois de rose georgette trimmed with serpent green, was very fine; with this was worn a now Capaline felt to tone, creating much admiration. The new’ evening frocks w’ere shown to much advantage; one especially of dull rose chenille with side panel of fur finished at neck with georgette scarf w r as much admired. Evening shades played a very prominent part in the display, especially the new mantilla effect.
Cosy velour coats in the new season’s shades of wines, etc., looked decidedly smart.
The millinery was of the choicest variety with the new capalenes and tarn crown effects predominating. Fur necklets and fox were much appreciated and the exclusive black seal coat trimmed with squirrel tails w’as superb. Mills’s Orchestra added greatly to the enjoyment of the afternoon. X
On Thursday aftqf noon two more sessions will be held, from 2.45 to and 3.45 to 5.30 when “Henriette” will again feature the new season’s styles of many garments which it Was impossible to show yesterday.*
