Members of the Women’s Division have been doing a great deal of quiet but useful work in the interests of women in the backblocks. For instance, the sum of £5OO has been raised in the Wanganui-Wairarapa-Wellington districts in furtherance of the excellent backblocks nursing scheme which is to be inaugurated before., long. There is no doubt that when the project of providing nurses and .relieving housekeepers in the backblocks has been tried out on an experimental scale, reason will soon appear for greatly extending its scope. In their well-considered efforts to improve and brighten the lot of dwellers in the backblocks, the members of the Women’s Division are making a practical contribution to the solution of a big national problem, and the public should welcome such opportunities as arise of supporting and assisting these efforts.
