PRIMARY EDUCATION.
MEETING OF CARTERTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE. W SHOP DAY PROPOSED. ("The Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Carterton School Committee was held last evening, Mr. C. E. Jones presiding. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £lO ISs lid. Accounts totalling £5 Is Sd were passed. The Young Women’s Bible Class, Masterton, applied for the use of the school building for a camp at Easter. The matter was left in the hands of the chairman and secretary. The headmaster reported that Miss Shaw would resume duties to-morrow The roll number was as follows: Primary, 310; average, 310; secondary, 35; average, 30. A portable gramophone was purchased for the wooden school. A shop day is to be arranged for May to raise funds to purchase a piano, which the Education Department will supply for £3O.
The Education Department is to be approached for £35 to furnish two rest rooms for the teachers.
Renders are to be invited for the supply of ten eords of firewood.
It was decided to write to the Edu cation Department regarding the ccn tral school site, to ascertain the posi tion.
Mr. A. C. Kennerley was appointed visitor for the month.
