THE MARKETS.

MASTER TON S ALE. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report: A very heavy yarding of sheep which comprised chiefly large lines of ewes, was submitted to a large attendance. Competition for the average lines of 4 and 5-ycar ewes was not up to the standard of last week’s market, but for special lines prices were quite on a par with that eale. There was a keen demand for young ewes, which also sold well up tc recent rates. Following is the range ci prices, at which a total clearance was effected: Account J. Campbell Junr., 500 4-year ewes at 21/4 to 23/; 201 2-tooth ewes, 24/; 38 4 and 5 year ewes, at 18/9; account Annedale Station, 1775 s.m. ewes, at 14/9 to 15/1; account Tawhero Station, 740 s.m. ewes at 15/2 to 16/8 (these lines being sold in conjunction with the W.F.C.A. Ltd.); account Mrs. S. E. M. Holmes (Matahiwi), 432 5-year ewes, at 17/4; 48 2-th ewes, at 21/; 150 4 and 6-th ewes, at 25/. In conjunction with Wright, Stephenson and Co., we also sold 735 5-year ewes on account Glendonald Station, at 15/.

The New Zealand Lean and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: We had a. small entry. Competition was fairly keen for good ewes. We quote: p.b. Romney ewes, 24/ to 27/6; Lincoln ewe lambs, 13/6; wether Lincoln lambs (small), 10/.

Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report: The yards wore taxed to the utmost to hold the particularly large entry of sheep. We yarded approximately 3600 head, comprising chiefly breeding ewes. There was a gobd attendance of buyers present, and practically the whole yarding changed hands. Good 4-year and younger ewes met with animated competition and sold at prices quite up to last week; if anything slightly higher. Medium ewes were not in great demand, and met with a dull sale, prices being lower than those ruling last week. Wethers and lambs made values on a par with late rates. With the exception of one line •of ewes, we made a total clearance as follows: Account R. Mace 4-year ewes (aged marked), 22/6 to

23/; 6-th ewes, 28/1; account Glendonald, 5-year ewes, 15/; account W. O. Riddel, 4 and 5-year ewes, 16/1; account Graham Brothers, 2-th ewes, 24/; m.a. ewes, 13/6; account Kummer Brothers, 5-year ewes, 17/4. Account other vendors, 4 ahd 5-ycar ewes, 14/6 to 16/; cull ewes, 6/ to 9/; b.f. iambs, 16/ to 17/; cull lambs, 7/ to 9/; w.f. lambs, 12/6 to 14/; 2-th wethers, 18/; S.D. rams, up to 7 gns.

The W.F.C.A. Ltd; report as follows: A heavy yarding of all classes' of sheep was offered to a good attendance of buyers. Some extra good lines- of fouryear owes met with' keen competition, but medium sorts Were rather easier than at last sale, although prices throughout for breeding ewes considering the large entry were in favour of vendors. The best of the 2-tooth ewes under keen competition sold readily, a lino of 115 medium Lincoln skinned ewes, on account Korarau Station, topping the market -at .30/.. Wethers wore also in better demand than at recent rates, 254 ex-Penninsula making the best price at 21/6.
