A SUCCESSFUL TOUR.

RETURN OF MAORI RUGBY TEAM. 1 AUCKLAND, March 2.

“We have learned nothing, but wo have had a very pleasant tour,’.’ said Mr. H. F. Harris, one of the managers of the Maori Rugby team, which returned by the Tahiti yesterday after an extensive tour, which included matches is France, Britain and Canada. Thirty-eight matches were played, 29 were won, 7 lost, and 2 drawn. The team had done well, although it was recognised that it would have been a greater combination had players of the calibre of Mill, Nepia, and Paewai made;the trip. When asked who r as the most improved player in the team, Mr. Harris replied emphatically Robins&n, and added that the burly fourteen-stone youth from Little River, who was originally chosen as a back, had developed into a chapipion forward, and should be a tower i of strength to Gan terbury football fqr years to come. Mr.’flarris said nearly all the team had played up to form, and at fullback Phillips had served the team so well that Nepia could not have been an improvement. It -was reported /in the “Athletic News of 'December 13 that a player named Kingi had assisted the New Zealand League' team against Wigan. “It "vdas not our Kingi,” stated Mr. Harris!, and Kingi, the Wanganui representative half-back, was also there to conjfirm the statement.—(P.A.)
