PERSONAL.

Brother L. Emery has been appointed to represent the Loyal Masterton Lodge of Oddfellows (M.U.) at the forthcoming district conference.

Superintendent A. E. Freeman, of Masterton, was yesterday re-elected a vice-president of the United Fire Brigades' Association, states a Press Association telegram from Gisborne.

Commander Arthur Marsden 8.N., and Mrs. Marsden, are the guests of Mrs. O. A. Bunny, Waipipi, during their stay in Masterton. They leave today for Wellington, and next week will jioceed to the South Island, where Commander Marsden is to continue his lecture tour.

A Press Association cablegram from London announces that Commander H. L. Morgan, at present serving in tho Operations Division at the Admiralty, has been appointed to command H.M.S. Dunedin, as from April 1 next, in succession to Commander Peters, who is now taking the Dunedin Home. Six other officers will be appointed for the return journey of the Dunedin to New Zealand.

The death occurred recently at Blenheim of Mr. John Moore, brother of Mr. George Moore, of Eparaima Station, Masterton. The deceased, who was the eldest son of the family, came with his parents from England in 1854 and settled in Waikaraka, on the East Coast. When the estate was divided some years back, tho late Mr. Moore removed to Blenheim, where he followed the occupation of stock agent. He is survived by two sons and a daughter who are residing in Marlborough, and two brothers, Messrs F. Moore (Wanganui), and G. Moore (Masterton),
