Mr. R. Dyer &M. gave his decision at Napier yesterday in a case heard on February 14 in which Loo Kee was charged with being found in possession cf opium in a form suitable for smoking. The opium concerned was found in a parcel left at a service station for delivery in Wairoa. The Magistrate found that defendant was not actually in possession of the opium and dismissed the charge.—(P.A.). An inquest was held at Wellington yesterday into the death of Joi Neroli Reid, the six-year-old girl who was killed on Friday in Vivian Street by a motor lorry driven by Michael Carey. Mr. E. Page (Coroner) returned a vedict of accidental death. Kenneth Jack Reid (aged 6), brother of the deceased, said another little girl was chasing his sister with a piece of tomato, and she ran off the footpath on to the road. Michael Carey said the deceased ran out from in front of a stationary tram car, and the front mudguard seemed to hit her. She was injured on the back of the head. Other evidence was to the effect that the lorry was not travelling at more than 8 miles an hour. The Coroner found as stated and said that no blame was attachable to anyone.—(P.A.). An unfortunate position has arisen in connection with the Band and Fire Brigade Gala which was to have been held on Saturday next. The promoters have been advised by Messrs A. S. Paterson and Co. that owing to unforseen delay in the arrival of an overseas steamer, the lamps to be used in lighting the Park Oval will not be available until March 16. In these circumstances, the joint committee has decided with great regret that the gala must be postponed until a date to be announced later. The special lamps to be. used in lighting the Oval are of French manufacture. The unusual feature is not in the lamps themselves, but in an arrangement of lenses which has the effect of increasing greatly the power of the light.

It is to this boat that Drummond is carried and from which he makes a sensational escape. The role of Bulldog Drum mend is played by Jack Buchanan, who has been signed by an important American producer in starring roles and Betty Faire. beautiful and talented actress of the English stage.
