FIRES IN GISBORNE.

THREE SINCE SATURDAY. DOCTOR’S RESIDENCE DAMAGED. GISBORNE, February 28. At 4 o’clack this morning, fire broke out in an eight-roomed house owned by the Estate* of the late C. P. Davies, and occupied by Dr. MeSwcenov. One room was destroyed nnd the remainder of the building was damaged by water. Dr. MeSweeney and his wife woke with the crackling of the flames and escaped in their night attire. The house was insured for £2OOO, Miss Davies’s furniture, which remained in the residence for £5OO, and Dr. MeSweeney’s furniture and surgical instruments' for £5OO.

At 8.30 the brigade turned out again to a minor outbreak al,so in Kaiti, but no damage was done. This marks tho third occasion on which the brigade has been called out since the Dominion delegates to the Fire Brigade Conference began to assemble in Gisborne.— (P.A.)
