Badly wounded in both arms as the result of a companion’s rifle being discharged accidentally, a man named William Bosher was taken to Wellington from the East Coast by the Richardson steamer Koutunui early yesterday morning, but died after his admission to a private hospital. Bosher had been out shooting with others at White Rock Station, and when gear was being removed from a motor car in which they made the trip, one of his companion’s rifles went off accidentally, and Bosher, who was stooping down at the time, was shot in both arms. Dr D. L. Clay, of Wellington reached White Rock at 3 o’clock on Sunday morning, and found Bosher to be in such an exhausted condition from the loss of blood that he deemed it inadvisable to motor him to Wellington. Dr Clay therefore got in touch with the Wellington agents for the Koutunui, and the ship put in to White Rock. After much difficulty the launch at last managed to make the Koutunui, and the doctor and his patient were taken aboard safely.
