SCOUTS AND CUBS.

PRESENTATION OF CUPS. FUNCTION* AT PARISH HALL. Boy Scouts and Cußs, and their parents and friends assembled in strong fore© at St. Matthew’s Parish Hall on Saturday night when fhe Mayor (Mr. T Jordan) presented the cups for general efficiency. Before handing the cups over, Mr. Jordan spoke of the value of the Scout movement and appealed for support from both boys and their parents.

Patrol Leader Armitage won the enp for the best all-round Scout, and also took the cup on behalf of his patrol which won honours for being the most proficient. Gordon Rigg won the cup for the best all round Cub, while Ron. Wright, as leader, took the cup on b - half of the Red 6. The cups were donated by supporters of the movement. At the conclusion of the gathering, the Cubs initiated two new members, while three Cubs were promoted to the Scout troop, and three tenderfeet were also initiated.
