(“The Age” Special.) Martinborough donations to the Plunket Karitane appeal include the following:—Mrs. W. J. Martin, £100; Mr. Arthur Martin, £2O; Mr. H. W. Blundell, £10; Mr. .1. McLeod, £10; Mr. Geo. Pain, £5 ss; Mr. A. B. Martin, £5; Mr. Jack Martin, £3. A Successful Effort. The concert given recently at Kahautara in aid of the hall funds realised £lB 12s Bd. Horticultural Society. At a meeting of the Grey town Horticultural Society, Miss Poole and Messrs Hale and Berriinan wrote accepting the positions of judges. Mesdames Bull and Wallis were added to the stewards, and Mrs. F. C. Bunny appointed head of the tea rooms. Mrs. C. W. Brown A\as accorded a vote of thanks for her donation of a cake for the guessing competition. The secretary's action in arranging for buses to run from Masterton to the show in the afternoon and evening was endorsed. Shop Day. The shop day hold on Friday in aid of the Carterton Fire Brigade funds realised £3O. The competitions were won as under: Cake. Mrs. J. Dwyer; pair of fowls, Miss R. Sorensen; table centre, Mr. G. Osborne. Swimniing Championshlps. The Carterton Schoo] swimming championships have been won as under:—Boys’, in years and b’. Lawrence; boys’ primary, M. Colbourne; boys’ secondary,' D. Irwin; girls’, 10 years and 'under: Mollie Herdman; girls’ primary, Rhoda Kempton; girls’ secondary, Betty Roy.lhouse. Water Race Committee. It was decided at a meeting* of the Featherston-Longwood Water Race Committee, that in connection with the offer from the Defence Department for the committee to take over.the camp water scheme, that the matter be discussed with the Featherston County Council-chairman at the Camp. It was decided that it be a recommendation to the County Council that steps be taken to- have the Camp site taken back into the water race rating area, dating from the time of the lease of such lam! or lands by the Department; also any other land previously used by.the Defence Department and which was exempted from rates.
FEATHERSTON, (“The Age” Special.) Members of the Featherston Croquet Club, a Return visit to Carterton en Friday and were entertained at afternoon tea by the Carterton Club. Twehty-two-point gamer were playoJ tbo results being as follow:— Mesdames .Savill and Neilsen lost to Mesdames McKenaie and "Warren (Featherston).
Mesdames Feast , and Sqrenson (Carterton) lost to Mesdames Fairbrother and Vineent.
Mesdames Connell and Zillwood (Carterton) lost to Mesdames Rowles and O’Brien.
Mrs. Knutson and Mr. Parton ("Car terton) lost to Mr. Saunders and Mrs. Wiekens.
Mesdames Goodin and Hawkek (Carterton) lost to Mesdames Avre and Combs.
Mesdames Parton and Goodin (Cartorkm) beat Mesdames Fairbrother and Williams.
Before leaving, Mrs. McKenzie, president of the Featherston Club, thanked the Carterton players for tdieir hospitality and called f.r three cheers for Carterton. Tlieee were given heartily.
