MEETING GF WAIRARAPA BOARD
FRIENDLY .SOCIETY CONCESSIONS. The bi-monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board was held yesterday, Mr. E. G. Eton presiding. Ward 2 at the Masterton Hospital being* unoccupied, it was decided to convert it into a children’s ward and to engage the extra sister required.
The Hospital Boards’ Association advised that the executive was submitting the following recommendation to a forthcoming conference:— i 1 1 That the conference authorise the executive to endeavour to confer with a- like number of representatives of friendly societies and with representatives of the Department of Health with a v.ew to fo.mn :,ting r uniform agree ment acceptable by aR boards and friendly societies, the tennis to be applied in all future agreements and to be insisted upon by the Minister.” Accompanying the information was a confidential letter setting out the Minister’s policy. It was pointed out that the difference in the terms of agreements operating in the various districts was an increasing source of difficulty in negotiations between fin individual board and >he friendly societies in its district.
It was decided on the motion of Mr. T. V. Moore that the WaHrarapa delegates to the conference should oppose any increase in concessions to friendly societies above tho 33 1-3 per cent, at present given.
An account for £lO was received for the use of the gas and apparatus at the Greytown School, in connection with the course of cookery lessons to the Greytown probationers. The chaiman and Mr. Thompson were deputed to wait on the School Committee to request a reduction in the charge.
