The Legislative Council, by 34 votes to 31 decided to refer the Child Endowment Bill to a Select Committee for report. This will have the effect of holding the scheme up for many months.—(P.A.). FEDERAL ACTION. MELBOURNE, February 25. Mr. Bruce (Federal Prime Minister) announced that ho had decided to call a conference of State representatives to discuss the child endowment scheme. —(P.A.).
