BREACH OF AWARD.

A QUESTION OF HOLIDAYS. In the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, the Inspector of Awards proceeded against Mary Jane Stevens, boardinghouse proprietress, for not allowing an employee a full holiday as required by the award. Mrs. Stevens was further proceeded against for not keeping a proper time and wages book. Mr. R. McKenzie, for defendant, said that time-sheets had been kept, but the wages book was not kept in compliance with the Act. In connection with the other offence, defendant had given the employee two half-days off instead of lone full day. The employee was quite agreeable to the alteration. Defendant was lined £1 on each charge, with’costs. I Lily Sly, cook, was charged with having committed a breach of the award in connection with taking halfdays off. Defendant was fined 10s and l«ss costs.
