BAZAAR AT MANGAPAKEHA.
SUCCESSFUL EFFORT.
A most successful bazaar was hold at the, Mangapakeha Tennis Courts yesterday, in aid pf the funds of the Tinui branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. Mr. Hugh Morrison opened the bazaar with a speech in which he outlined the aims of, and the necessity for, the Women’s Division, and stressed in particular the need for education and assistance in the country in order to stem the drift of the population to the centres.
The stalls were varied and did good business. Tennis was played and there were several competitions. As a result, the funds will benefit to the extent of £4O.
The bazaar was arranged by Miss Laing as honorary secretary, and an energetic committee of ladies. BRANCH AT HASTINGS. HASTINGS, February 24. A branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, with the object of bettering the conditions of women and children living on the land, was formed this afternoon.—(P.A.).
